James Kirk Plunkett

James Kirk Plunkett was born and raised in Marietta, GA on October 30, 1978. As a child, Plunkett was a natural artist, often passionate and enthusiastic. 

 

By the age of thirteen, he had become an accomplished writer and musician.  He spent many years traveling with local Atlanta blue bands, such as Eric Quincy Tate, Reddog, and even his own project, Uncle Jam. By the time he was twenty-one, Plunkett had shared the stage with unsung local heroes and musical icons alike; touring with such notable bands as The Charlie Daniels Band, Dr. Hook, Buddy Miles (of Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys) and David Allen Coe. Then briefly touched the stars by playing with legendary blues singer/guitarist B.B. King at Stevie Ray’s Blues Bar in Louisville, KY.

 

After many years of touring and playing music, Plunkett focused on fulfilling the childhood dream of publishing his first book. During his musical career he had received accolades and acknowledgement for his talented words; but had never found the time put together a compilation.  In 2006, he began to follow his bliss, releasing his first official title “Songs of Inspiration”, the pre-release to “A Song for Every Season”. His book was received with great praise from the international poetry community, and later received the Outstanding Achievements in Poetry Award from the International Poetry Guild.

 

Today, Plunkett has moved back to his home town of Marietta, GA. He is active in his local community and works as an IT professional. His time is spent with his wife, two sons and daughter with a recently discovered passion for keeping saltwater aquariums. Some would call his life complete, but Plunkett sees it as just the beginning.

 

“It’s funny sometimes how when you think you’ve done it all, you find yourself right back at the beginning. That’s where I am today… at the beginning of a new adventure.”

 

Plunkett established Clear Path Publishing when first preparing to release “Songs of Inspiration” in early 2005. In an interview earlier this month, author James Kirk Plunkett shared, “I am excited to see what the next chapter brings.... I’ve continuously re-invented myself in the pursuit of happiness, and now I’ll get to share the joy (and pain) I experienced through it all in writing…”
